Kugan is a qualified Chattered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science Honours with (CTA) from the University of South Africa. He is currently employed by the Industrial Development Corporation (South Africa) as Head of the Transportation and Financial Services Strategic Business Unit.

He has previously served as Senior Account Manager in the Mining and Empowerment SBU’s. Among the major empowerment transaction for which he was a team leader is Incwala, Aquarius, Goldfields, Paracon, Don Group, ERPM and First Rand. Other internal responsibilities that he is charged with at the IDC are, member of the Internal Audit Committee, and  IDC Taxation Committee, Chairman of Herdsman’s, Director of Incwala Resources and Tinga Game Reserve.
