Big rush for Prasa’s BEE offering, Bdlive.co.za – Business Day Live
AN OVERWHELMING response to the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa’s (Prasa’s) black economic empowerment (BEE) participation scheme will see the agency — which is in a R123bn rolling stock renewal programme — miss its selection target by almost two months.
Prasa, which operates commuter train service Metrorail, is buying 7,224 coaches in two tranches over two 10-year periods. The company is operating under very tight deadlines, with the first coaches set for delivery by the first quarter of 2015. To meet these deadlines, the contracting process must be completed by June.
