Fibre is the only technology that will deliver enough bandwidth, reliably and at a low enough cost to meet South Africa's broadband connectivity demands. The traditional method of building fibre optic networks in urban areas is through trenching — digging ditches into the ground. This results in major traffic disruptions and environmental challenges in dense city areas and is a slow and expensive method of deployment.
