ONE of the Eastern Cape initiatives financed by the National Employment Fund (NEF) is the Middledrift Milk Project. According to its chairman, Tukela Cyril Jantjies, the project produced 11 000 litres of milk at full capacity from its 670 cows and was financed by NEF to the tune of R9.5-million The project was started in 2006 on 150 hectares of communal land in Middledrift and supplies milk to Clover. Jantjies said the project was making a profit and employed 20 people.
