The National Empowerment Fund (NEF) has invested R15 million into KZN based Sticks and Licks Pty (Ltd) t/a Ola Ice Cream Durban's move from Pinetown to Ballito. On Wednesday, June 19 the company broke ground at the site in the Ballito Business Park. The NEF is the agency mandated to grow black economic participation in SA. Sticks and Licks which operates as an independent distributor for Unilever SA has a five-year exclusive agreement with Ola SA to deliver its products to Ola customers, including supermarkets and garages. Sticks and Licks concessionaire Nischal Jairajh said, “the new Ballito facility will provide for all the sales, warehousing and distributing requirements of Ola Ice Cream, covering as far north as Tinley Manor, Prospecton in the south, Hillcrest in the west and Durban central.”
