THE Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce held a workshop about franchising opportunities at the Motswedi Skills Centre. GALXCOC is planning to build a mall in Tsutsumani next to the Engen Garage that will cost approximately R 570 million and construction is expected to start in January 2015, and is estimated to be completed in August 2016. According to Mpho Motsumi, president of GALXCOC, they want to give the people of Alexandra an opportunity to franchise some of the shops that will be in the mall, and they are working with different funding institutions to help people who are interested to finance businesses. Other institutions that attended the workshop include the National Empowerment Fund, the South African Franchise Warehouse as well as SEFA According to Wiseman Makhajane, an investment associate at the National Empowerment Fund, the youth and women should forward their applications since they will be considered first.
