R31m to 'empower' top businesswoman, DAILY DISPATCH (Final Edition)

SUCCESSFUL businesswoman Khanyi Dhlomo's new Luminance luxury-brand store has received a R31.4-million injection from the government. Dhlomo is the founder of Ndalo Media, which publishes Destiny and Destiny Man magazines, and Sawubona – SAA's in-flight magazine. She is also chief executive of Ndalo Luxury Ventures, which owns the store. The state's National Empowerment Fund (NEF) chief executive Philisiwe Buthelezi-Mthethwa, speaking at Wednesday night's opening, praised Dhlomo's entrepreneurial skills and said it was wonderful that labels like Oscar de la Renta would now be available for South Africans to buy. Other high-profile people who attended the event were ButheleziMthethwa's husband, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and Arts and Culture Minister Paul Mashatile.
