Innovator creates online learning platform AT school he sold bangles. At university, he sold wine. Today Doug Hoernle trades in a sought-after online education platform. Two years ago, he founded Rethink Education, a Cape Town-based education-centred company focusing on the high school market. The St Stithians Boys' College matriculant has always been hooked on selling, a bug that bit him when he started his bangle-making business in primary school. Hoernle (23) says the bangles were in his school colours and titled in the themes of the “spirit of the saints”. His parents encouraged him to use the profit to build a house for a homeless person, which is how he became a contributor and supporter of Habitat for Humanity.
