Support for starters, FINANCIAL MAIL

Polo Radebe, CE and cofounder of investment holding company Identity Partners, is determined not only to find but also to fund SA’s next generation of entrepreneurs. Through Identity Development Fund Managers, a subsidiary of Identity Partners, which provides both advisory and fund management services to small and medium enterprises, Radebe believes she can make a meaningful contribution to job creation. “I believe it’s my purpose to help create jobs, and providing funding and business support to small business is, in my view, the best way to achieve that,” she says. Radebe’s passion for development finance began when she joined the department of trade and industry (DTIC) in 2003, serving as chief director responsible for formulating the broadbased black economic empowerment codes of good practice. She has a BCom in accounting, and previously worked as a research analyst at the corporate finance division of Aloecap and as fund manager at the Standard Bank Property Income Fund.
