Giving up was never an option, FINWEEK (English) Page 50

Founded just before the dawn of democracy in January 1993 by Sindi Zilwa and her brother Mzi Nkonki in Umtata in the Eastern Cape, Nkonki Inc (Nkonki) has become the second-largest black accounting, auditing and advisory firm in South Africa in the 20th year of its existence. Nkonki is an auditing firm that provides auditing services and aims to contribute towards the increased number of black chartered accountants (CAs), as well as improving the intellectual capital landscape of the auditing profession, still dominated by whites. The brother-and-sister team, who are both CAs, took the bold step to start their own black-owned and managed accounting firm in the last days of the apartheid era.
