Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge aims to uplift local community THE KwaZulu-Natal economy should get a boost when the Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge opens early in the new year, a spokesperson for the lodge said yesterday. Situated on the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Reserve, the lodge will be part of a vision to uplift the Mpembeni community by providing skills training, job opportunities and education on wildlife conservation, according to statement. The four-star private lodge will be the only establishment of its kind on the reserve, and will offer 22 luxury rooms comprising eight villas, two honeymoon villas and six suites. Jointly funded by the National Empowerment Fund (NEF), the lodge will employ 60% of its staff from the community, hiring tour guides, game rangers and general lodge staff.
