Youth need job support, SUNDAY WORLD
WE have a serious crisis of youth unemployment in South Africa and we are rated as number last in G20 and Brics countries. There is a huge inequality gap among our people and some people survive on only less than Rio a day, which is below United Nations set poverty level standards. Oxfam predicted that in the next 10 years the situation will be worse and more people will be trapped in hunger and poverty. There are government enterprise development agencies such as Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, National Empowerment Fund and the Industrial Development Corporation that were set by government to help small and medium business to reduce youth unemployment in South Africa. Government invested billions of rands in these agencies but they still fail to make any impact. Some believe that these development agencies are pushing a certain political agenda and that money is given to certain individuals who are political connected.
