Group Company Secretary
Ms Zandile Mhlongo joined the NEF in November 2014 as a Senior Committee Secretariat. She was later promoted to Acting Head of the Secretariat Department in March 2017 and was appointed as the Secretariat Manager in November 2017. In 2023 she was promoted to Group Company Secretary providing legal, compliance and Secretariat support to the Board. In that capacity she provides advice and support to Board and NEF governance structures. With 16 years’ experience in banking and finance, she serves in various steering committees within the NEF that help with the implementation of various projects and is the current chairperson of the Management Committee.
She has demonstrated her leadership capabilities having successfully provided Secretariat and Governance services to 17 committees including the NEF group of companies.
Before joining the NEF she worked for Ithala Bank as the Assistant Group Company Secretary providing support to the group’s subsidiary companies.
She holds a degree in Governance and a Company Secretaryship, a professional qualification (NF8) through the Governance Institute of Southern Africa. She remains a member of the Institute and attends their Continuous Development Programme on an annual basis as required by the professional body.
She also holds an LLB degree and underwent 6 months of Practical Legal Training with the University of Pretoria. Ms Mhlongo is a participant in the Executive Women Development Programme ran by the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) in partnership with Duke University in the USA.
