ALISTAIR ANDERSON Economics Staff THE National Empowerment Fund (NEF) is in the market for a R25bn war chest to fund projects it believes will showcase Africa as a world-class investment destination. 1 The fund has seven projects focusing on mineral beneficiation, agro-processing and agriculture, infrastructure for telecommunications, as well as broadband and / health infrastructure. These were areas identified as / being in need of funding, NEF corporate communications manager ( Emmanuel Mohlamme said yesterday. He said fund CEO Philisiwe Buthelezi recently attended an 5 institutional investment summit in Washington, where she discussed progress on various “mega investments” in Africa.
